The Westminster Jazz Vespers service brings together amazing musicianship and holy inspiration weekly, from the second Sunday in September through Pentecost, June 4, for a service of prayer, meditation and music.

 

Weekly, our sanctuary is blessed by the jazz sounds of David Hoffman. The trumpet/flugelhorn soloist and composer/arranger with the Ray Charles Orchestra leads worship along with (most weeks) Dan Leahy, Piano, Mike Nellas, Bass, Jason Brannon, Drums, Jamika Russell, Vocals, along with Rev. Denise Clark-Jones leading the service.

 

Jazz Vespers are held in the church on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 p.m. We gather in the intimacy of the sanctuary for an extraordinary experience of jazz.

 

No charge to join us (free-will offering taken) and no reservations are required. Join us for an extraordinary celebration of joy.

Sangamon Valley Civic Orchestra invites you to its final performance of the season! Come out and witness this performance bring your imagination to life with Camille Saint-Saëns’ “The Carnival of the Animals.”

 

Joined on stage by dancers from the Springfield Youth Performance Group, this piece is certain to take you and your family on a grand tour of the carnival! In addition to Saint-Saëns, the Civic Orchestra will be performing familiar dance favorites by Aaron Copland and Aram Khachaturian.

 

Admission to the concert is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free to children aged 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased online by visiting the website listed above. Hope to see you there!

Join us for free outdoor family activities! The goal of the event is to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun, and families will get to experience traditional and non-traditional outdoor activities.

 

This event will offer a mix of information centers and activities where guests-especially kids-can learn to fish in the Y pool, try out archery, and much more. Learning centers will offer critter talks featuring native and zoo animal presentations that run throughout the event.

Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony (SVYS) invites you to its final concert of the 2016-2017 season! This performance features all of the SVYS youth orchestras: Starter Strings, Junior Strings, Preparatory Orchestra, Sinfonia Orchestra and Youth Symphony.

 

This concert has a piece for everyone! Under the direction of Matthew Sheppard and Diane Turek, our orchestras will cover almost every genre of music. From classical pieces by Beethoven, Mozart and Brahms, to themes from movies like “Pirates of the Caribbean,” to modern pieces, we are certain that every audience member will find delight in our final performance of the season!

 

Admission to the concert is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free to children aged 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased online by visiting the website listed above.

  • General Admission: $20
  • Early Entry: $35 - Early entry ticketholders will be able to enter at 6:15 p.m. and pick their seat before the general admission doors open.
  • VIP: $45 - VIP ticketholders will be able to enter at 5:30 p.m. and pick the best seats in the house. They will also have the opportunity to participate in a pre-show Q&A with the band at 5:45 p.m.

Join us and discover what horses can teach you about your life. Dr. Lew Sterrett covers connection, character, and relationship as he demonstrates his horsemanship training skills. He relates this to our training from God as we learn to listen, submit and obey. There is no fee, and a free will offering will be taken. These proceeds will benefit Berean Prison Ministries.
